So this is a photo of Patrick Dempsey’s living room at his Malibu home. The wall of firewood provides a focal point with the fireplace and also provides a wall of art. One questions though do you really need that much firewood in Malibu?! Love the earthy and natural feel of the room though. It is a place that looks welcoming as a cozy place to lay down and read a book.
Color! It is such a simple idea but can be translated so differently. In America most of the exteriors of homes are muted pale tones, except for Miami:), and the interiors can have brighter pops of color. On the other hand many foreign countries do the exact opposite with the exterior of the buildings being vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows and the interiors are modern with muted neutral tones. Why do you think that is?
What a cool design, maybe not in your everyday dining room, but what fun it would be to have a swing at the dining room table. Life is too short to sit stationary.
I love the open bright feel of this room. The natural light pours in and there is the perfect balance of grays, whites and oranges. The sleek gray stone fireplace and opposing orange accent wall and painting make for a beautiful room.
This room comes together beautifully with the unexpected gorgeous pop of floral red drapery. The stripes in the pillow and end of sofa bring the composition together with the black pillows grounding the design.
Amazing how the antique sprayed orange chairs add a cool contrast to the natural surroundings
